Whether you sell through Zomato, another delivery app or your own website, the rule is the same: a kitchen that sells food online needs FSSAI approval first. This guide is written for delivery-first businesses and cloud kitchens.

Delivery platforms do not set their own licence rules. They simply check that you hold the approval the law requires for a business of your size.
| Annual turnover of the kitchen | What you need | Government fee |
|---|---|---|
| Up to ₹1.5 crore | Basic Registration | ₹100 a year |
| ₹1.5 crore to ₹50 crore | State License | ₹2,000 to ₹5,000 a year |
| Above ₹50 crore | Central License | ₹7,500 a year |
Note the difference between you and the platform. Zomato, as an e-commerce food business, holds its own Central License. As a restaurant partner you only need the approval for your kitchen.
The questions delivery-only businesses ask most
FSSAI licenses the kitchen, not the seating. A delivery-only kitchen applies in the same way as a restaurant.
If you rent a unit inside a shared kitchen facility, you need approval for your own unit, with the rent agreement as proof.
Brands run by the same business from one kitchen normally sit under one approval. Declare every brand name.
Each kitchen address needs its own registration or license, and each listing uses the number of the kitchen it ships from.
A home address is accepted for Basic Registration, which makes it the usual starting point for new sellers.
Sealed or labelled items you sell should carry your FSSAI number on the pack.
